Added a bank account a month ago in the hopes of selling some items on eBay with the added benefit of becoming “verified” and removing spending benefits. Boy do I regret the day I did … My first transaction with PayPal, after adding the account, came just a couple of days ago and a few days later while doing a routine check of my bank account I was shocked to find that there was a 30 dollar “Return Item Fee” on my statement. As it turns out when one adds a checking account to PayPal the bank account becomes the “default/preferred” source of funds. Doing some research, that lead me to here, I found that many people have been surprised by this.
Unfortunately this exact same scenario happened to me 3 times (over 1 transaction). Needless to say I am out of bank fee’s and paypal fees because they say it is my fault it happened…Did not realize what crooks they were until my mother brought this whole paypal saga to my attention this afternoon..I was very shocked to see all this web info regarding their integrity.
All we can hope is that this drama ends soon..until then I would not recommend paypal (or e-bay for that matter) to anyone..BEWARE
