AboutPaypal.org is an Anti-Paypal website created with the sole purpose of exposing the horrors of doing business "The PayPal Way". We are committed to assisting the public in making an informed decision about PayPal.
This website is a collection of horror stories, news reports and other information addressing problems with Paypal, Inc..
My husband and I has been selling on ebay for 11 years. We sell mostly antiques and collectibles. We are small sellers who are looking for an alternative to paypal. Accepting paypal is very risky for high priced items.
One example of why we no longer want to accept paypal is this…
Last year a buyer purchased an antique doll from us for $350. We shipped it out via USPS Priority Mail with full tracking, insurance and signature confirmation services. As soon as it was signed for and received the buyer filed an unauthorized charge with paypal. I called the buyer up and she said she loved the doll and made a mistake filing the unauthorized charge.
I asked her to call paypal and straighten it out and she did. Also, since we had proof she received it and signed for it, paypal unfroze our account and restored our balance once again.
The very next day, she filed a chargeback with her credit card! Ebay froze our money and charged us a $20 chargeback fee. I called her up and she laughed at me and said “Ha Ha, I have your item and got my money back”, then she hung up on me. I was livid! I contacted all of the other sellers that did business with her and found out she did the same thing to them too. Within a few days ebay canceled her account.
I called paypal and they said that they would fight her credit card co. on my behalf. Lo-and-behold, paypal apparently did not win that claim and they froze my money and said I owed them $350 plus the $20 charge back fee to them!
As of late, buyers are getting more and more bolder by the minute. Ebay and paypal seem to enable this type of fraud. It is very scary because we are small sellers who cannot afford to absorb e-shoplifting.
This is why we decided we would like to drop paypal and get a merchant account.

At least you were smart and got away from paypal. I lost over 2 k before I learned my lesson with this company. I found an amazing alternative for paypal and have been happy with them since I got rid of EVIL paypal and all their stupid shit they do
I would sue that bi#&h, take her to small claims court even better Judge Judy, make her look like a fool. This buyer had the intention of stealing from you from the beginning and was even kicked out of eBay so they know she was a scammer and still you are the one ending out money and item. This is one of the many reasons I closed my paypal account. It is nothing but a breeding ground for fraud.
At least you were smart and got rid of them. I kept giving them chance after chance and finally after I got screwed out of A LOT of money i decided to shop around and found a great merchant company to work with.
that was a smart move. I closed my paypal account when I had a similar problem. This site was also very helpful in helping me find an awesome merchant company with no strings attached and a breeze to set up
You are doing the right thing in leaving paypal!!! This women is doing this stealing for some time and they are aware of it, but don’t do anything about it! Really is a sad way to do business. With a real merchant account you control your money with your own bank and, don’t have to deal with paypal and their bs. Best of luck.
