Default Ripped off by Scam and PayPal

My story starts with my resume being posted on careerbuilders.com. I recieved an email from their site about a job with a company looking for US Reps. Since the offer came from careerbuilders.come I thought the offer was a good one. I was directed to the company web site where I read about the job, applied for the position and was accepted.
A contract was sent to me, I sent it back and with in a couple days I was contacted by a company manager and told to set up my paypal account to recieve money from their clients. I did and I recieved a email from a person telling me their client had sent fund to my pay pal account. I then was directed to forward the money to the name and address the provided. I did so. The next week the same process of recieving money and transfering it to the company took place. A third time this took place except this time pay pal stopped the transfer and informed me that the person claimed the transactions were used on a stolen card. Since that time they have put my account in debt for $5800.00 and are threaten legal action.
I was a victim here who did not recieve a dime from the alleged company and now pay pal after many weeks of phone calls and emails still want to hold me responsible. Can anyone offer any help?
