Default I too am a victim

I was recently a victim of ID theft. Someone was able to get a hold of my email, eBay, and PayPal accounts at the same time. There were fake items put up for auctions and purchased by buyers. Emails informing me of these purchases were being intercepted, and money was being added into my PayPal account without my knowledge. The same individual then added an additional account to launder the money. By the time I realized what was going on, the thief had somehow managed to leave me ~$3000 negative due to reversals and refunds to buyers who were scammed by these fraudulent transactions.

I've contacted PayPal dozens of times, with each call I was ***ured that PayPal would take all necessary steps to resolve the matter. Soon enough, a collections agency called to notify me of the negative balance, and that I would have to pay. It has been over 3 months, and now I'm being forced to pay out of my own pocket for something I didn't do.
