Angry Paypal Hurts Buyers

I recently bought a nice laptop on ebay. Like many people, I used paypal to complete the transaction. Fast forward a week later and here I am with this excellent laptop. I am so happy, but wait. What's this? An error? Sure, the wireless internet is connected, and it works fine. Oddly though, when it connects to microsoft's web site to update, there is a validation problem. Microsoft informs me that the operating system cannot be validated and is therefore pirated. The computer turns off and attempts to restart. Now I can't even get it to work. I am locked out. Every time I turn it on there is a "licensing problem". I now have a useless laptop and am down $450 that I saved for it so I could have it for school. I double check this with a professional. They immediately agree. They say it is plain to see to a computer expert that this is a pirated windows xp.

I contact the seller. They say "sorry, I thought it was fine when I bought it on ebay and immediately resold it. That's all I can help you with." What help? That didn't help at all you tard. Now I am angry. The seller refuses to do anything.

I contact paypal to dispute it. Their little crap tutorial tells me to try to contact the seller. Check. It also tells me to have any information ready to send them as part of their investigation. Check. If the dispute has to do with computer fraud then get an official appraisal at your own expense and have it ready to send. Check. Prepare to wait up to 30 days for complete inquiry. Check.

The outcome? Four days later I am enraged by an email saying that my partial refund is denied because even though the operating system is pirated and I am locked out of my own laptop, this does not "affect the value of the item". The kicker here is that I have all this information, some even at my own expense. I have a killer case to present, worthy of a full refund, but all I want is enough to replace the operating system. They don't ask for any of it. They must have flipped a coin because they did not have any information whatsoever.

Simply venting this is not enough. It is my intention to whine and complain and gripe and constantly call and harr*** until someone who isn't a completely inbred cousin-humping moron hears about me and decides to do something other that be an idiot who could not provide even substandard customer service to save their own life.
