PayPal locked my account

After my first transaction on PayPal, I got an e-mail from them stating that my account was locked because they found my name to be a potential match with that of someone with sanctions against them. To have my account unlocked I would have to fax them a copy of my p***port and utility bills.

Now I think that the fact that something like this is done without any prior warning is simply preposterous. I am lucky that I had only £12 in my account but that is my money and I will not allow anyone to walk away with it. And besides, they have potentially tried to smear my name.

I feel that the US govt. and the European Parliament should make a note of PayPal's activities and give more protection to people using PayPal.
