I received a letter maybe a year ago from paypal about possible fraudulent charges as a result from my use of paypal through ebay. At the time, i had no problems, so i trashed the letter. Hindsight is always 20/20. Now, within the last month, I have had someone use my card to place an ad to sell their car, and try to open an aol account- all due to someone getting my info through paypal.
I had my bank change my debit card number since the first occurence, but this has been such a pain in the ass. I shouldn’t have to spend hours on the phone trying to get overdraft charges refunded from the bank, only then to wait indefinetly for claims to be processed and maybe, if i’m lucky, the charge refunded. I had to wait a month for the bank to finally send a letter- they said the charge I was disputing was valid. I WAS LIVID!!!
In any event, after some nasty phone calls and alot of grief, my money was recovered. And AOL simply took the charge off the account that I never created, and told me to call the cops to find out who is doing this. All I want to know is…. where can I find that letter I got a year ago? Paypal owes me an apology, at least. Its terrifying to know that the money I work my ass of to earn could be taken away in an instant, and all i’m left with is the exhausting task of trying to get it back. Is there anything I can do?
