Here Is An Email Scam

Writer Wishes To Remain Anonymous

I received an email this morning at one of my yahoo e-mail addresses, fromservice@paypal.com or so it said. I have several email accounts, and as I am (shudder) currently signed up with pay-pal (I do not use it however) I decided to look again to see what e-mail address I was currently reviewing. It was not the one I use to log into the pay-pal site. Actually they don’t even know I have the other address. I did some checking on this interesting little e-mail. I found that the link it wanted me to click on actually goes to a server in two places, first it goes to Amsterdam-Netherlands then it goes to Bulgaria. All the while mind you the top of the Explorer window in the address bar still say’s that it’s at the pay-pal website. I tried to call pay-pal and got the same response that most people get…eternal hold. So I tried e-mailing them. A very prompt electronic reply quickly entered my e-mail box basically blowing me off, ‘thanks for the information have a nice day’.

I then tried to email them again, I put some of the information I had collected into the 2nd e-mail telling them basically that even though they had blown me off after my first email to them, I was trying to get them the information. I told them that unless they used a server in Bulgaria and Amsterdam and they had better look into this. (Unless people are aware not to click on links etc. in e-mail’s -which a lot of people aren’t- they might just click on this one.) Possibly they could notify the admin folks w/server that has this information on it to pull that website. Now I am being ignored…lovely, can’t say I didn’t try!  I did mention in the 2nd e-mail I sent them to just e-mail me back telling me that they were aware of this new scam or that they did indeed use the server’s I wrote about then I would no longer worry. I am still waiting for my reply, but I don’t think it is coming. I no longer want to do business with a company which doesn’t care about it’s customer’s concerns and frankly they may very well be using technology in other countries. Taking Jobs out of the country you are based from? Oh I don’t think so. I will be trying to cancel my account with them over the next few days, wish me luck. Below I have placed a copy of that email I received.
