AboutPaypal.org is an Anti-Paypal website created with the sole purpose of exposing the horrors of doing business "The PayPal Way". We are committed to assisting the public in making an informed decision about PayPal.
This website is a collection of horror stories, news reports and other information addressing problems with Paypal, Inc..
I opened a new Paypal account, attached a checking account, gave Paypal a credit card and got verified. Then I sold nearly $800 on eBay for a friend. I asked for just under $600 to be transferred to my checking account. I got a confirmation that Paypal would do the transfer. When I tried to pay for postage to ship the items via Paypal, I was told that there is a limitation on my account. However, if I followed several easy steps including resetting my password, changing my security questions and answers, proving my home address and such, the limitation would be lifted. I completed all steps except for address verification. This requires a form that Paypal said they were sending in the mail. I shipped the items I sold. Afterwards, I got an email from Paypal saying that my account is suddenly closed due to security risks. I am not allowed access to the money in the Paypal account. In six months or so, they will send me an email and email me instructions on how to receive the funds that belong to my friend. Now what? Paypal deceived me badly and basically stole that money.

Unfortunately there isn’t much you can do about this but wait out the 6 months. Then hope that after the 6 months the money will be released to you. Seeing stories like make me thankful I pulled away from paypal before anything like this occurred to me. Unfortunately my friend wasn’t so luck and have over 5k held for over 6 month
Now you wait, wait for paypal to grant you access to your money. But first paypal has to earn some interest off your money. That is why they are holding it for 6 months before you can have it back. Same thing happened to my paypal account and 6 months later I didn’t even get all my money back. But at that time I was just happy to get most of it back.
