Paypal helps scammers getting away with it.

I sold my ps3 turtlebeach earforce px21 gaming headset on ebay for $34.69 to some guy in palmdale, ca. He asked me to pack it well and I always do, I sent it priority w/ tracking and when he got it he tried to tell me that it smells very bad. I knew this was a lie but i gave him the benefit of the doubt. Then he threatened to ruin my perfect feedback if I didn’t give him a partial refund. I told him if it was that bad then to send it back and I would give a full refund. He insisted on keeping the item and getting money repeatedly and when i told him several times that i don’t know how it could have got a smell since my house is clean and i wiped it down and packed it my self he decided that it smelt like cigarette smoke and if that was true he would have said that from the beginning. So I said since he does repeatedly refused to send it back and he wanted me to refund him $25 (all of my profit) than maybe he could consider febreeze. That made him mad and he then gave me – feedback and said alright buddy you wanna bs me your feedback is gone. So he slandered my good buyer status and said that it smelt very bad and that I would not work with him.(more lies I tried). I then reported him to Ebay for feedback extortion and referenced our communications. Then he opened a dispute and went straight to paypal and changed his story again to add that it now “does not work right” no details that’s it and obviously if this was true and is not he would have mentioned that in my feedback. See a pattern here pretty apparent he is just a scammer. I really didn’t worry to much about the case because I thought surely the will not give him a full refund because he says it smells that is bs. Little did I know that paypal has a tendency to side with buyers for no reason at all and they had to hold my money for a month. then they finally decide he can get a refund IF he returns the item he sends them tracking on the last possible day before my funds would be released and the case closed. I sent paypal an email expressing my frustration with this decision and told them I had a strong feeling that it would be broke and even if not he made it very hard for me to resale it by slandering my item and seller rep. when I got the package I was pissed it was apparent that if this was my item it was very broken or missing pieces because he sent it in a thin padded envelope that looked like hell and was too light to be the item. So i grabbed my camera and took pics of it before during and after opening and it was a cheap piece of shit logitec headset for an older ps2 system. I knew he would do something but i did not expect this. I called paypal right away and they said they had to close out that case and give him the money and then open an appeal and I am yet to hear from them. I asked the guy where i could send pics for evidence and he told me where. it said the file was too big and would not let me so i called back. the next guy told me that they don’t accept pics. But if they grant me an appeal that i will probably need an incident report from the police. So I got one to stay on top of things and emailed the pics to the cop. I don’t know but it should be pretty easy to prove that he sent me a different product considering my item was so big I had to send it in a box and it cost around $10 to send and i have a tracking # so the post office can probably pull it up and see what it weighed. Now on the other hand the crap he sent me like i said was in an envelope and it only cost him $3.48 to send it with tracking and he only sent that just so they would have a # to assume that he sent me the actual product and once again i am not sure but can’t the post office prove these are different items by a significant weight difference. I mean I sold it with free shipping it would not have made since for me to add weight to it and spend more on shipping. and yes my box and styrofoam peanuts made it weigh a bit more but there is a huge difference here. I was found this site trying to find out where i can go if paypal does not fix this and how i can get someone like the better business bureau to step in and stop this flaw in paypal’s system that allows scammers to thrive off of honest ebay sellers.

I sold my iPod on ebay, didn’t need it anymore since I got an iPhone. The buyer filed a claim right away stating the screen was cracked. It was not and the way I had packaged it it was impossible for it to break. However it;s not my first time selling on ebay and I told the buyer and paypal that I would refund the buyer once he returnde my phone. Well I got the “phone” returned which turned out to be a casett tape so I complained to Paypal but they ignored my correspondence and refunded the buyer.

Scammers rule when using PayPal and that is a crying shame!! How is it that a system as large as Paypal is allows scammers to get away with cyberway robbery every day?!?! Paypal never seems to side with the legit seller…who supposedly has “seller protection”. Seller protection my ass. Paypal doesn’t think twice about returning money to a damn thief and the seller is out product and cash. I’m dealing with an idiot right now that opened a dispute and it’s been nothing but irritation for me and I’m the one in the RIGHT!

Paypal is a scam for both sellers and buyers. They side with whatever way the wind blows that day. I bought an item which was COMPLETELY differnent as described. I contacted the seller who avoided me at all cost. Then I went through the channels of contacting paypal which just led me around in circles. They kept pushing me back onto the seller which was hopeless. I left bad feedback and learned my lesson.
