Here’s a good one that sent my perfect feedback, almost 400 point account down the crapper (not to mention a $1000 watch).
Guy from England buys an 18K solid gold watch from me. I send it along using Express Mail Service. About a week later, he contacts me saying he hasn’t received it. I’m shocked and after doing a trace on the package, discover it’s been seized by customs there as they do not allow the importation of solid gold objects. Buyer files claim, I lose, even though I have documented proof of what transpired.
Angry and frustrated, I contact the BBB and they try to assist me in settling the issue. After a couple of days, I get a response from a real, live human being stating that it’s the seller’s responsibility to know their buyer’s customs regulations. Following a gut feeling, I go back and re-read their terms and conditions very, very carefully and discover….. ***wait for it*** it’s actually the buyer’s responsibility to know whether they are able to legally import items into his/her country. Armed with this new information, I contact PayPal, and have yet to receive any type of denial or confirmation, three years AFTER the fact.

For years I used Paypal only to buy stuff mostly on eBay and never had a problem. Then I thought I could make some extra cash selling some stuff I had on eBay and that is when my nightmare begun. It has been nothing but problems with my paypal account; limited funds, scammers filing false disputes, paypal holding my funds pending who knows what. Don’t even get me started on international buyers, learned quickly and costly to stay away from them. I never used to understand why so many people complained about paypal…that was until I became a seller.
I love how they are quick to throw everything on the seller. How the hell are we suppose to know the different custom laws in each country. What a bunch of BS, I bet it takes another 3 years for you to get resolution to this. This company truly sucks!
That’s why I refuse to ship internationally and the reason why I left paypal. I had something similar happen to me. How am I suppose to know each countries custom laws? I hate this company!
