Too easy to be ripped off using PayPal

Recently, I sold an expensive item via Paypal. The buyer stated the item was malfunctioned, which it was not but Paypal automatically withdrew money from my account, leaving me in debt. The only inkling of any problems I had was an email notifying me of the withdrawal and the subsequent fees which are quite substantial in Canada. I disputed the issue, informed paypal I wanted the item returned which it has not been. I feel that no one should deal with this reprehensible company without them first dramatically ratifying their policies. Their “system” offers no protection for sellers and is set up in a way that buyers can easily claim fraud without any proof needed.

I’m having a similar dispute now with paypal. Sold a dress on ebay for $1100 and buyer filed a chargeback with her cc company saying its not as described which is a lie since it was brand new with tags. I emailed the buyer requesting she file a claim then via ebay or send back my dress which she hasn’t done and even admitted in her email the dress isn’t damaged. I sent all of this proof to paypal and they still withdrew the funds from my acct. I now have no dress, out of $1100 and just waiting for a response from paypal as to what her cc company decides. They make it too easy for scam artist. I reported them to better business bureau. Its a shame there is no decent alternative.
